New Release Coming Soon…Fragrance of Life

When a Book Becomes a Journey: From Nature Sings to Fragrance of Life

Every book has a birthplace. Some arrive with thunder…loud, insistent, demanding to be written. Others come quietly, like a soft wind brushing across a Tennessee hillside, whispering their way into being. My first book, Nature Sings, was born of that whisper. It emerged from the landscapes that shaped me: the rolling hills, a creek that ran between, a cardinal perched on a fence, the hush of a summer dusk settling over the farm. It was a book that taught me to listen to the earth, to memory, and to the still small voice that nudges the heart toward wonder. If you have not yet purchased Nature Sings you may get your copy at Marlene Tidwell | Best Selling Author & Poet.

But the journey didn’t end there. If Nature Sings was my invitation to pay attention, Fragrance of Life became my invitation to feel.

This new collection… woven with poems, vignettes, and photography grew out of the deeper chambers of my life. I am excited to announce that Fragrance of Life will be released November 15. More information will be forthcoming in the next few days. It carries the scent of joy and sorrow, the weight of memory, the shimmer of hope, and the quiet courage required to keep walking through seasons that do not always make sense. It is a book shaped by the truth that life is rarely tidy, but always meaningful.

The Shift From Seeing to Savoring

When I wrote Nature Sings, I was captivated by the beauty around me. A cardinal perched on a fence singing a song that echoed through the valley. A velvet sunset stretching across the horizon. The song of a whip-poor-will echoing through a summer night. These moments stirred my pen and reminded me that nature is always speaking if we are willing to pause long enough to hear.

Fragrance of Life came from a different stirring. It wasn’t just the world around me, but the world within me. The poems in this new collection were shaped by the ebb and flow of living: the ache of loss, the surprise of laughter, the tenderness of family, the resilience found in the quiet corners of the soul. These pieces simmered longer. They asked more of me. They required honesty, reflection, and a willingness to let the reader step into the deeper rooms of my story.

The Power of a Moment

Many of my poems begin with a single moment that refuses to let go. One such moment became the poem My Beloved Tennessee. I was driving westbound on I‑40, watching the late‑September light spill across the hills. Mist rose from the valleys like a benediction. Freshly cut hay lay across the fields. The scene overwhelmed me with its beauty and allowed me to capture the words on paper when I returned home.

That is how many pieces in Fragrance of Life were born: from the sudden collision of memory, emotion, and the sacred ordinary. I’ve learned to keep a notebook in my car for this very reason. Inspiration rarely knocks politely. It spills, it rushes, it interrupts. And when it does, I try to honor it.

Why This Book Matters to Me

Fragrance of Life is more than a collection…it is a testimony. It carries the fingerprints of the people who have shaped me, the places that have held me, and the moments that have changed me. It is a book about valleys and mountaintops, shadows and sunlight, grief and grace. It is about the beauty woven into the simplest things: a sunrise, a memory, a whispered prayer, a familiar road.

It is also a book of gratitude. My family…Bill, Nicole, Josh, Luca, Ana, and Mason…stood beside me when this dream was nothing more than a stack of scribbled pages and a hopeful heart. Their encouragement carried me through the quiet, uncertain stretches of the creative process. They celebrated the first book launch with me, and they continue to cheer me on as this new collection finds its way into the world.

What I Hope Readers Will Find

If Nature Sings invited readers to look outward, Fragrance of Life invites them to look inward. My hope is that each poem becomes a companion…gentle, honest, and steady. I hope readers find themselves in these pages: their own memories, their own longings, their own healing. I hope the words linger like a familiar scent, reminding them that beauty is present even in the places where sorrow once lived.

Most of all, I hope this book reminds readers that their stories matter. Every life carries a fragrance…unique, sacred, and worth savoring.

A Journey Still Unfolding

As I continue writing, I am reminded that poetry is not merely crafted; it is lived. It grows from the soil of experience, watered by reflection, warmed by grace. Fragrance of Life is one chapter in that unfolding journey, and I am grateful to share it with those who have walked with me from the beginning.

May these words meet you where you are. May they offer light for the shadows, strength for the journey, and hope for the days ahead. And may the fragrance of life…your life…rise gently, beautifully, into the world.
